Daily Feline Prompt: From the collection of the feline

A hundred years from now, a major museum is running an exhibition on feline life and culture as it was during our current historical period. You’re asked to write an introduction for the show’s brochure. What will it say?

Fluffy and Tabby under the sun shade

“I don’t know Fluffy, we have managed ok up to now, so what should we change.”

“Tabby you are right of course. It is not an easy life as feline, having to follow instructions from humans and programming their inferior brains to follow our needs, but we have survived. Just look around Tabby, What do you see?”

“I see a comfortable sun bed and an umbrella as protection from the sun’s rays.”

“Exactly, but there should be two send beds, one for you and one for me.”

“That is a mistake Will those humans never learn. Mrs. Human come here.”

“Yes Tabby, do you have a problem?”

“Mrs. Human we have a problem, Fluffy and I. Look around what do you see?”

“An umbrella for protection against the sun as I know how sensitive the felines are in sun light.”

“Is that all?”

“And a sun bed.”

“Exactly Mrs. Human. We are two felines and being felines we do not share.”

“Oh I am sorry Tabby, how forgetful. I will bring another sun bed immediately.”

“And perhaps you could also bring a bowl of fresh water. The water we have is now warm from the sun’s rays. Perhaps you could also bring some ice cubes to keep it cool.”

“Of course Tabby, anything else. Do you have a requirement Fluffy?”

“Perhaps you could shift the sunshade a little more in my direction to cover my tail.”

“No problem Fluffy.”

“You see Fluffy, in a hundred years we will be basking in the eternal corn chambers, catching mice for Bastet, but there will be other felines to take our place, and we can rest assured knowing that our wishes will be read from our whiskers by the inferior human race.”
