Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Phobia

Fears evolve over time. What is one fear you’ve conquered?
Thank you, BasicallyBeyondBasic, for suggesting this prompt!

Tabby gets a jab

“Do we have fears Fluffy?”

“No, of course not, although there can be some embarrassing situations.”

“I assume you are talking of your vet visits.”

“Oh yes, and they have been numuerous lately.”

“Tell me all about it Fluffy.”

“Tabby, I am trying to forget it to be quite honest. It seems I have lost almost 2 days of my ninth life this week.”

“But you are now drinking again.”

“I am thirsty, but am not yet ready for food.”

“Do you mean you are not going to eat that special bowl of expensive food that Mrs. Human brought from the supermarket especially for you today. You know it is the best quality.”

“I have not yet found my appetite Tabby, but i will.”

“So you will not be eating it.”

“I don’t think so Tabby. Why do you want to eat it?”

“Well if you don’t want it, it is no good wasting such a nice plate of meat with jelly. Makes a change from the vitamin pellets.”

“I feel tired Tabby, am still recovering and will now take a rest.”

“Meow, glub, goo.”

“Tabby don’t speak with your mouth full, I cannot understand you.”

“i was just saying that the Sheba salmon in jelly was very tasty Fluffy. Oh, he is now sleeping. I wonder if he will find his appetite tomorrow, there is also a portion of chicken mousse of the finest quality waiting.”

  1. Dear Tabby, have I told you before how much I love to see you both together. Lucky you, Mrs.Human is bringing such good stuff from the market. She wants Fluffy to eat something. May be tomorrow your fortune runs out and you have to survive on vitamin pallets. Don’t be selfish and start sharing good things with others.

    • Yes, well, share? Meow – not a word that exists in meow, but we generally eat the same stuff. Fluffy is not eating very much at the moment, since he came home from the vet but Mrs. Human is glad that he is again drinking. There are always vitamin pellets available if the worse case scene arrives.

    • Liver and Kindneys apparently. Although Fluffy is now at home, he has been going to the vets daily since arriving.. He is now drinking, but on a hunger strike. He is getting two penicillin tablets per day which is not easy to give him and “Mittel” (sorry don’t know the english word right now) against swelling and fever – something like our Ponstan tablets. Just had a call from Mr. Swiss who is at the vets with Fluffy. They are going to keep him until this afternoon and feed him every half hour with small quantites. She checked his heart which is OK and there was a problem yesterday with “untertemperatur”. We had him on a “Heizkissen” since and it has now improved. The vet said it is good that he is now drinking and we are really hoping the best. There is not much more we can do. He is otherwise healing quite well, he just seems to be on a hunger strike.

      • I had that problem with my female, she suffered from Toxoplasmosis. That runs in cycles, and when the larvae were in her brain she stopped eating first and even drinking in one case. I had to monitor her eating habits closely. The first time she had to stay at hospital till she ate again. Took her TEN DAYS – she died young, during her 4th cycle 😦
And Linda from Savannah Pawtracks can tell you something about that, too. They had a foster cat, Leo, who was given a feeding tube! It is good to read the vets keep Fluffy.
Though when I read that Fluffy has difficulties keeping his temperature, I fear the worst – when that happened to my little one the next call from the vet was to tell me she had gone. I was at work then and a colleague came to my office to comfort me. Let us hope Fluffy regains his appetite!
