Daily Feline Prompt: Life’s a Fish Store

You get to be a 6-year-old feline again for one day and one day only — plan your perfect 24 hours. Where do you go, what do you do, and with whom?

Tabby eating tuna fish

“Hello Tabby, I’m back.”

“You were away Mrs. Human?”

“I was visiting my dad in London. Did you miss me.”

“Miss does not exist in Meow Mrs. Human. And what’s the big deal. Mr. Human was filling my dish, I even got some tuna fish. He even emptied my recycling tray, although I deposited most of it outside in the garden. It was perfect recycling weather. Basically everything was fine, it was a perfect week, it could not have been better, although the place is now a bit empty without Fluffy with his corkscrew whiskers, but he is doing fine. Nera sent a paw message from the eternal corn chambers. Fluffy is now her assistant and helps to round up the mice. It seems Bastet is quite satisfied with him.”

“Yes it was Fluffy’s time Tabby.”

“If you have to go, you have to go. But please Mrs. Human no more searching for new playmates for me. I am getting on in the years and no longer have the patience to teach them the rules according to Tabby. So if you were away, what did you bring me.”

“But the felines in England eat the same as the felines in Switzerland, so there was nothing I could bring you really. “

“According to today’s prompt I should have a perfect day. Any suggestions?”

“Seems to me every day is a perfect day for you Tabby. What about a walk in the fields, searching for mice?”

“Good idea, but first of all I should finish my dish of tuna and have a digestive sleep. Will postpone it until tonight. Turn out the light when you go Mrs. Human.”

  1. Dear Tabby, I’m glad to read you again. I think you should reconsider the playmate. I enjoy my little sister very much, and I didn’t think I would at first. I’d lobby for a striped tiger cat just like you with an M on its head. My human says they are the best.

I tried to make friends with a cat yesterday. I went to the vet. Everything was fine at first, but then it started to run away and I had to try to stop it.

Yours always and forever, Dusty T. Dog P.S.

    • Nice to see you again Dusty T Dog
When my human returned she smelt of dog, but I don’t think she went as far as you live. Her friend has a dog known by the name of Toby. We felines do not do playmates, we are the loners. Now and again we might have a sniff at another feline, but we do not actually adopt them.
I must admit I have never attempted to make friends with a dog, they are too big and make loud noises which strain the delicate ears of a feline. We felines communicate by telepathy in any case.
Best wishes from the land of the feline whiskers – Tabby

  3. I am so sorry to hear of Fluffy, but know that it was for the best. Sentiments like mine don’t make it any easier to ‘feel’, do they? Still. My condolences. I am from the world of dog – but mine is smaller probably than you, Tabby and she doesn’t bark very much at all. Well she would at you, but that is the nature of cat and dog is it not? Fluffy will wait at the Rainbow Bridge (in my belief system) where there are endless fields and lots of good smells and things to do and warm sunshine to bask in. Where pain doesn’t exist and only joy abounds. Where some lucky humans might one day be able to come and see their loved animals once more. Love and Light.

    • I am so sorry to hear that. I too am now down to one cat and I am sure that Tabby must feel a bit alone now and again. Cats are not so sociable as dogs, but now she is alone for the first time in 13 years. The place seems empty, the usual occupied chairs and beds are now empty. I feel for you very much.

  4. So sorry to hear about Fluffy. I lost the late great Paco a while ago and I know the pain, but it was his time, too. I understand that as well. I look forward to hearing Tabby’s ongoing tales.
