Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Hope

“Just a minute Mrs. Human, hold it, stop the Tabby show. Hope does not exist in meow.”

“In that case Tabby, let’s call it a day.”

“I don’t do days, or nights for that matter Mrs. Human. I eat when I want to eat and sleep when I want to sleep.”

“It is just a way of saying that today there will be no Tabby daily prompt. If hope does not exist in meow, then there will be nothing to write about.”

“Just a human minute Mrs. Human, we do not just stop the Tabby daily prompt because a human silly word does not exist. I have things to say and all my fans are waiting to read my wise words. ”

“But it is all about hope Tabby, and even felines must have hope for something.”

“Forget it, what we want we get, we do not hope for anything.”

“But you do not like rain for example, so you must hope it doesn’t rain.”

“At the moment the sun is shining and we felines live for the moment, and not in case something happens. If it rains I retire to my home for a sleep. As far as I am concerned let is rain, I just avoid it. And before you ask, I do not hope for tuna fish for dinner, I expect tuna fish for dinner and now tell everyone about it. You are writing my life story, my adventures and my triumphs.”

“But you do not seem to be very adventurous when you sleep all the time.”

“I am building up my strength to conquer the unknown. Mrs. Human. I will now depart for the unknown. I have to mark my territory – write it all down –  and afterwards I will retire on a chair outside in the sun. In the meanwhile you can prepare my food bowl and refresh my water. The recycling tray also needs a change of clumping material. Before I go you can give me one of those gently strokes behind the ear. No, not there, a little towards the center. Yes, that will do. Just a moment I really think it will rain, the sun has disappeared.”

“Tabby, where are you going?”

“For a beauty sleep of course, Mrs. Human. There is no time to lose.”

  2. Dear Tabby, My human suggests that because dogs are capable of hope (right now I hope we go for a walk, but I’m not very hopeful…) we have more abstract reasoning ability than you have claimed here for felines. I told her I’d take that up with you. Yours always and forever, Dusty T. Dog
