Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Reach

Tabby

“Tabby have you found a new sleeping place.”

“No, Mrs. Human, it is my old sleeping place and I though I would try it out again.”

“But isn’t it a little dangerous. You are quite high perched on the cupboard, how will you manage to descend?”

“Let that be my problem. In the words of Confucious Feline “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential and heights… these are the keys that will unlock the whiskers to personal excellence” meaning that when reaching high places to sleep I will become even more perfect than I already am.”

“Yes Tabby, that may be, but how will you come down again?”

“Let that be my problem Mrs. Human, where there is a whisker there is a way we felines say. And we have nine lives into the bargain as well.”

“I somehow have the feeling that your nine lives are gradually shrinking in number.”

“No problem, we have a few reserve lives to hold onto. Bastet thought of everything when she took over. Of course if you really feel unsure Mrs. Human, you could reach out with your human arms and carry me down to the floor.”

Tabby on her ladder“No, definitely not Tabby. You got up there on your own and you can return on your own. You have a ladder from the cupboard for the descent.”

“I prefer to jump, desending ladders is exhausting. I have to do it step by step. If I jump there is an immediate result.”

“No, Tabby that is far to dangerous. You could break a leg and then you will have to visit the uncle vet for an operation which would cost a lot of money.”

“Is that all you worry about? The costs of the operation. What about the pain and discomfort if I break my leg?”

“Then use the ladder.”

“OK, I am thinking about it. In the meanwhile I am enjoying my sleep in my pole position where I can observe everything in my home, so I will stay here awhile.”

“What about your bowl of tuna fish?”

“Tuna Fish!”

“Tabby what was that thump. ”

“I just left my bed on top of the cupboard. Someone said something about tuna fish.”

“Yes and so you jumped from the cupboard.”

“No panic I arrived safely. The desk was my first stage before hitting the floor. That you humans have to throw a fit everytime we felines do what we are supposed to do. We are built for such exercises. Have you never seen a tiger jump from a tree to catch its food.”

“Tabby you are not a tiger, but a tabby feline and you food arrives in a bowl.”

“Ok, but do not forget I am a city tiger and tuna fish is waiting for me.”

    • Meow Dusty
No meow problem. No matter how I fall I alway seem to land on my paws. It is all in the feline trick of falling. We turn in the air as we go down. Of course if a human gets in the way there could be a problem, like a human getting injured, but they also have a vet to cure all ills.

      • Whew, Tabby. I’m relieved to hear this. I’m trying hard to hold back on the barking but sometimes it just takes control… I think I might need Bark Anon. Yours always and forever, Dusty T. Dog
