Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Slogging?

“Mrs. Human, why do you have a machine to mow the grass?”

“Because I do not want to do it myself.”

“Perhaps the machine does not want to do it either.”

“Tabby, machines cannot think, they do what we tell them to do.”

“Are you sure. That machine told me he finds it boring here, going over the same part of the lawn every day. He wants to go places and see things.”

“When did you have this interesting conversation with our lawn mower.”

“It was just after I had finished a discussion with the wall. I was wall watching for a while and the wall told me that the mower was feeling neglected, so I decided to see if I could help.”

“Tabby, you cannot talk to inanimate objects.”

“It is not talking in the known sense of the word Mrs. Human, we felines communicate through other methods. You feel a prickle in the whiskers, a twinge in the fur and you realise that something somewhere wants to communicate. I twiddle the whiskers, and am already online.”

“If things are so simple, perhaps you could open the cans of tuna fish with a twiddle of the whiskers.”

“Mrs. Human, is that a joke? I know that humans are of an inferior intelligence compared to the feline species, but since when can you talk to cans. They are objects and have no brains or method of communication. That is why we are still working on the paw friendly can opener.”

“But you talk with walls and mowers, I was sure that a can would not be a problem.”

“Mrs. Human, you must approach the problem with logic. Cans do not talk, it is not possible.”

“But walls and lawn mowers can talk.”

“Not exactly, they communicate.”

“Where are you going Tabby?”

“This conversation is exhausting. Trying to educate a human is hard work. I would say for your homework you should perhaps study a wall for an hour and tell me all about it tomorrow, but remember walls have ears and the wall will tell me all about it tomorrow. I am now going to have a well-earned relaxation sleep.”
