Daily Feline Prompt: The Feline Breakthrough

Tabby

Tabby“Tabby, where are you going?”

“I have decided to break out of my normal daily routine in the front garden or in the back garden. I want to go places and see things so I am breaking through the hedge to see what is on the other side.”

“Be careful Tabby, and I hope you find the way back.”

“Err Mrs. Human I am a feline, you know the creature with the built in homing instincts. We always find our way back. I know humans have problems with finding the way home, that is why their territorial paths are plastered with signs and arrows to show them which way to go. Superior races, such as felines do not need this. We feel it in the whiskers, sniff it in the wind and mark it with our paws, if they are not busy leaving traces of lotus flowers in our path.”

“Tabby I have never seen a lotus flower left by one of your paws, more the fragment from a claw.”

“But we leave our scent everywhere.”

“Really, I have never smelt it.”

“Of course not, you have a human nose and human noses only smell human smells. Feline noses smell everything. I can tell you that there is a new delivery of tuna fish in the local supermarket today.”

“Are you sure Tabby?”

“I can smell it of course, but perhaps it would be a good idea if you paid them a visit to be sure. They also have a new toy mouse, stuffed with the new catnip harvest flavours I can smell it from here. Put it on your shopping list and you may go. In the meanwhile I will breakthrough a few new paths and mark them with my scent to prove that they are mine. So what are you waiting for Mrs. Human, time to go and don’t forget the shopping list.”
