Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Argument

“No Mrs.Human, no photos today.”

“Why not, you are even looking at the camera for a change.”

“I am not in the mood for a photo, I am annoyed.”

“Why, has something happened?”

“No, nothing that is the problem. Life is boring, nothing happens. No-one talks to me or plays with me. It looks like rain, the weather is getting colder, and the leaf soldiers are not falling from the trees. ”

“You could take a walk Tabby, perhaps the feline next door will go with you paw in paw.”

“Felines do not take walks with other felines, and definitely not paw in paw. We have claws in our paws, and if we meet, we usually apply them for a small disagreement.”

“But you could have a peaceful meow together.”

“Exactly, that is what we do, but “peaceful” does not exist in meow. We only do “hiss” and “MEOW” not forgetting the capital letters to show the increased volume.”

“But I am sure your parents had a friendly talk together before you arrived.”

“Mrs. Human, with feline meetings, actions speak louder than words, and who my parents were still remains for discussion. I know who my mum was, but my dad(s) are still a big question mark. I think my litter sister Nera had a different dad to me. He was big and black and liked meowing on full moon nights. Mum said it was a quick meeting, just a few minutes. My dad had fur in his ears, just like me, and was one of the tough guys. That was also only a quick meeting. My mum’s life seemed to be full of quick meetings, she did not have time to argue, was too busy with the quick meetings.”

“Oh, I see, that is very sad.”

“Nothing sad about it Mrs. Human, it is the feline way of life and I know definitely the meetings always ended in an argument.”

“So you never met your father?”

“Perhaps, who knows? I might have had an argument with him now and again if he had crossed my path. And now to do something worthwhile to fulfil my boring life. Wake me up in an hour or two, my bed is calling.”

  1. Dear Tabby, Humans don’t understand how this works for us animals unless we’re fancy animals and then humans are far too involved. I met a nice fluffy white dog — not Bear — who was one of these fancy dogs. He said his human never left him alone. He never got to dig a hole or roll in the leaves or anything. I’m glad I’m a simple rescue dog who gets to play with Bear and go on walks. Yours forever and ever, Dusty T. Dog

Mrs. Human tells me now and again that I should not lay in the dirt, or drag dirt in between my paws, but I ignore her. I mean humans are there to be ignored. I have never met a fancy cat, although I think my apprentice, Fluffy, came from a family like that. He knew who his mum and dad were, it was a planned partnership I think. I prefer things being left to coincidences, the products are more interesting. I mean everyone knew he would be fluffy and have curls before he arrived and all his brothers and sister looked the same – how boring. Of course I don’t roll in the leaves, I trap them and capture them – they are the enemy and attack at this time of year.
Enjoy the day – Tabby T. Cat.
