Daily Feline Prompt: Overwhelmed Feline

Tabby

“Tabby you don’t look very overwhelmed on your photo of the day. You could at least smile.”

“I do not get easily overwhelmed Mrs. Human and our face muscles are not programmed to smile. The only smiling feline I have ever seen is the Cheshire Cat and that was a figment of imagination from a human writer. If my face was permanently smiling, I would be the laugh of the feline community, although felines do not laugh usually. We do not have very much to laugh about.”

“It seems to me the life of a feline can be quite boring Tabby – no jokes, no excitement, nothing to look forward to.”

“The life of the Cheshire cat was also quite boring Mrs. Human and she had permanent cramps in the jaw muscles. We felines are more in the transcendational medititive side of life with our deep thoughts on the reasons why. As the great feline philosopher, Felix “the cat” Nietsche said “The individual feline has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the human tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.” meaning that felines should ignore human suggestions and ideas, they lead to nowhere and deprive the feline of its own independent and wise thoughts. And now what’s for dinner, something to feed the brain and the body I hope.”

“Vitamin pellets packed full of energy and inspiration for meditational thoughts?”

“I am glad that is a question Mrs. Human and not a statement of fact. One dish of tuna fish, adjusted in accordance with my feline body termperature, so as not to produce a shock to my whiskers, and garnished with tarragon, preferably the french variety. You eat with the eyes and whiskers Mrs. Human and do not chew for enless hours on hard unappetising vitamin pellets. ┬áDo not empty a tin into my bowl, I prefer it slightly mixed with a spoon and served with the respect that we felines deserve, being worshipped as gods.”

“I thought that was a long while ago in the old country.”

“Yes, humans are forgetful creatures. It can all happen again you know.”
