Daily Prompt: Hesitating Feline

Tabby

“Tabby, don’t you want to go outside?2

“No, why should I?”

“You have been laying around all day inside and sleeping most of the time. It would be more healthy to get some fresh air and take a walk.”

“It was raining, my whiskers will get wet.”

“It stopped raining some time ago.”

“What about my paws. I will have muddy paws and will have to wash them.”

“It is only muddy on the grass. If you keep to the path, they will stay clean.”

“But there is no fun walking on a path. The action is where things are growing, creeping, and moving. No, I think I will stay at home, or shall I risk a walk outside. Oh the decisions to be made in the life of a feline. What little delicacy are you serving me this evening. It might help me to make  decision.”

“Your bowl is always full of healthy vitamin pellets Tabby.”

“I know Mrs. Human, and I am eternally grateful, but I was talking of delicacy. I am now in that happy comfortable state that I do not hesitate to indulge in any fancy in regard to diet, but watch the consequences, and do not continue any course which adds to weight or bulk and consequent discomfort. In other words, any tuna fish?”

“Plain or garnished with a flavour of your choice. By the way that statement just now, was that one of yours.”

“I found it on my pawpad, said by some cat William Whiskers Banting. He was one of the most famous for ensuring that our ancestors had a comfortable 10th life in the pyramids where we were preseved during the time that we were worshipped as gods.”

“Sounds morbid to me.”

“You are just jealous Mrs. Human, because you do not get a tenth life.”
