Daily Feline Prompt: Sailing feline

Tabby

“Tabby, what are you doing with your water bowl.”

“It is obvious Mrs. Human, I am sailing my paw in the water and testing the temperature to see if it is ready to drink. Please do not interrupt, I have to concentrate on this delicate work and do not want my paw to sink and lose it.”

“But the bowl is not very deep Tabby. I am sure there is no danger.”

“You never know. I have to practice my sailing qualities. Perhaps one day I will visit my friends over the pond and that is very deep.”

“Tabby I do not think that would be a good idea, felines do not swim so well.”

“It depends on the depth of the water and my friend Dusty, who is a canine, said today would not be a good day to visit. He is spending the day hiding because his country is celebrating Noise Day.”

“Noise Day?”

“Yes it seems to be something like our 1st August when everything explodes in the sky and noises take over. Even my wall shakes in case it will be hit. Dusty, my online doggy friend says that it happens every year where he lives.  All the humans are celebrating and all the dogs and cats are hiding, hoping that it will go away. I told him to hide under his human’s bed, but he said there is no room left because the other canines where he lives are already there.”

  1. Dear Tabby, Last night was horrible but our human says tonight will be the noisiest so she’s saved a big drug for me to take later on. I think it’s awful when brave canines are reduced to taking drugs to endure what humans do. Mindy doesn’t care at all, though. She just does what she always does. My human says it’s nothing, but really, Tabby, it sounds like the world is coming to an end and they’re going to take my human away from me. I couldn’t stand that. So if you come to America, don’t come now. Maybe the pond will freeze in winter and you can just walk over. Yours forever and ever, Dusty T. Dog

I often take drugs, it is even named after our tribe called catnip. The best medicine is sleep. I am quite good at that. I had end of world visions when the human species “builder” arrived with his noise machines, but they have now disappeared and it is now raining little pieces of white. Mrs. Human gets annoyed because her windows are covered with it. So is my fur but that does not seem to be her problem. It seems we will never meet as my paws are allergic to ice. Perhaps it is better that way, we can just touch paws across the Pond.

    • I remember 5th November in England and that was to celebrate Guy Fawkes blowing up the Houses of Parliament, what could be better. That was a horror night for all cats and dogs.
