Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Symphony

“Tabby what is that noise I can hear.”

“That is not noise Mrs. Human, I am practicing for the full moon.”

“What is so important for the full moon Tabby?”

“It only happens now and again and we felines want to be ready with our meows. What would a full moon be without a feline background”

“It would be a lot quieter. I thought loud noises bothered you?”

“Meow is not a loud noise, it is the essence of good, pure tone. We felines practice for hours until we reach the pefect tone. Meowwwowowoeow, hiss.”

“No Tabby, that does not sound very good, perhaps a little softer on the meows.”

“You think so. I was sure that a crescendo would be perfect at the end, the voice rising to an anticlimax  with a small filter of hiss to finalise the melody. Perhaps I should include some staccato souds, “meow, meow, meow” just to bring a little excitement into the rhythm.”

“No, no tabby, it is perfect. No staccoto, just perhaps a final diminuendo lasting for the last movement”

“But then you won’d be able to hear anything Mrs. Human.”

“Exatly Taby, We humans always say silence is golden.”

  2. Dear Tabby, In my old house in the old days with my Siberian Husky sister/mothers there were many of the Wild Ones in the fields and mountains around our territory. They always made a symphony when the moon was full and usually my sister/mothers joined in the singing. I know you will do very well when the moon is full. I have heard the felines as well and it’s a different song, but also very beautiful. Sometimes I sing, too. Yours forever and ever, Dusty T. Dog

The problem is that humans have no appreciation of the music qualities of a feline. They even throw buckets of cold water over us when we begin to sing and it is not for drinking purposes. Our local dogs seem to be more the yappy sort and there are no howls. Mrs. Human says we have a few wolves, but they are not very popular as they attack other animals. I only have experience with mice. Anything bigger would be bigger than me.
