“Where do you think you are going Tabby?”
“Outside of course.”
“But there is a strong wind blowing.”
“No problem Mrs. Human. The wind has even removed the stupid plastic in front of the window for me to allow a free walk outside.”
“But it could begin to rain.”
“Now that is something completely different. If it rains my fur will get wet and I do not like wet fur. My paws will also be wet not to mention my whiskers. You think I should stay here.”
“Definitely Tabby, there is a strong wind blowing.”
“On the other paw, it is not yet raining. Perhaps it will remain dry and then I will miss the chance of going for a walk.”
“But if it begins to rain you will have to escape and return home. It is better you stay here.”
“You think so, but all the other felines will be disappointed if I stay at home.”
“I thought you do not mix with other felines, because of territorial problems.”
“But if it rains there are no problems because we all stay at home, although it is not yet raining. I will ask the wall outside what it thinks.”
“Tabby walls do not think.”
“Of course not, they synchronize their thoughts with me. I have decided to stay here, the wall has made a decision.”
“That was quick.”
“Not really. I noticed that the wall is now wet, so it must be raining, just a matter of synchronization.”
Dear Tabby, I feel similarly about rain and last night we had a thunderstorm. It was awful and our human would not let me in her Sacred Sleeping Space. Thanks for the tuna, by the way! It arrived yesterday by Cosmic Animal Express. We’re very grateful. Now I just have to persuade our human to open the cans and give it to us! Yours forever and ever, Dusty T. Dog

Meow Dusty
Humans are like that. I am often awake in the early hours of the morning and need copanionship. Someone to meow with, a comforting hand on my tummy for a soothing tickle and my selfish human sleeps. I paw continuously at her door, even make anguished meows, but I am ignored and have to open the car flap myself. Absolutely no consideration. Glad you received the tuna fish. As soon as our scientists develop the paw friendly tin opener you will be the first I will send one to. Of course you could always try biting the tin open with your sharp canines.

They keep saying rain, but we just get clouds. Now that we have put up our new door, but haven’t yet painted it, I figure that guarantees a lot of rain. There’s some weird law that as soon as rain is the worst thing that could happen right now, that’s what you’ll get.

It always rains at the wrong time. Our storm was a half hour thing and afterwards the sun came out.. perhaps your rain will stay away.

Dear Tabby, You are so clever to be able to synchronize your mind with the wall’s mind. I wish we humans were clever enough to do that. So practical as well in cases like the one described in this post.

No problem, one of my natural talents. I could stare at them for hours discovering the real meaning of life.
