Daily Feline Prompt: No Feline Sludge

I don’t like sludge, I like to keep my paws clean. I lived amongst sludge for a complete summer, my world was destroyed by humans dressed to produce sludge. It all began with a large metal cage around my territoriy where the humans would climb and produce sludgy pieces of sludge. I am sitting on a stone which is an island amongst the sludge. You can see the mess. When it rained it was more sludge and it would stick on the fur.  I spent all my time cleaning my paws. There is nothing worse than taking a walk and suddenly something digs into your paw. It needed a complete manicure with teeth to get my paws into walking order again and removing the gritty pieces of sludge.

Even Mrs. Human complained about my paw marks everywhere on her stone floor. It was not my fault, but the sludge. I actually found the paw marks quite artistic, but she has no sense of design, especially when I left the marks on her favourite chair. It was also my favourite chair, but that did not seem to bother her. She can be very possessive.

This is all now in the past. The sludge has disappeared and life is almost back to normal. I just avoid the water when it comes from above.

  1. There are horrible things under the pavement. Whenever they dig, disgusting stuff emerges. Around here, though, aside from the official tank of sludge which gets pumped annually by a guy whose profession it is to do it, in the country, it’s just mud. On top and underneath. In town, though, yuck.

  2. Dear Tabby, Sometimes we bring mud in with us, when it rains and our yard is wet, for example. Our human gets a little growly and I have to clean my paws which, as you say, is an elaborate manicure. My “little” sister doesn’t care at all. I even think she likes it, but then she cleans her paws, too, as I taught her. I’m with you 100% on the sludge question. Yours forever and ever, Dusty T. Dog

I am continously cleaning something and paws are very important. Always have clean paws, my mum said. The only time I get them dirty is when I am burying something, but afterwards I hide what I bury and clean my paws again to make sure that no-one discovers that I have buried something. I always know where my burying places are, because I leave my secent there. I just do not like it when others decide to throw their sludge into my private digging places. A certain organisation must prevail in the feline world.
