Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Nest

“Tabby, you have been sleeping almost all day. You should go out and get some fresh air.”

“I am thinking about it. I have been thinking about it since I awoke this morning.”

“But that was 6 hours ago.”

“It is a complicated thought process. This morning I decided to go for a walk, but it was not the right time. I looked out of the window and discovered that there was nothing interesting to see, and decided to wait until later.”

“You will not find anythig interesting if you stay on the chair sleeping all day.”

“That is true, but if I move to the outside, there might not be anything happening, so I can just as well stay where I am. Are there any birds outside Mrs. Human?”

“Yes, they are continuously flying to my birdhouse for food.”

“In that case perhaps I might take a walk outside for a birdwatching exercise. On the other paw, I will think about it. The life of a feline is so exhausting with all the stress I have. I will have to relax for a while in my nest on the chair and decide what to do. Is it cold outside.”

“Yes, Tabby, it is very cold.”

“And you expect me to take a walk and freeze my whiskers, not to mention frostbite on my claws. No, I will stay here. Now where was I in my dream? Yes it was the part when I raided the bird’s nest and caught one in my paw. And then it turned into a vulture. Now that was a real meowmare Mrs. Human. I will have to dream on to see what happens. Wake me at tea time when my bowl has been filled.”

“Tabby, you are sleeping again.”

“Purrrrr, purrrrr. There are so many exhausting decisions to make in a feline life.”

  1. My dogs are basically sleeping the day away too. They aren’t even bothering to bark. It must be the weather — which for the first time in a while — is pretty nice. They are all very relaxed and Garry who is still sleeping (and it’s afternoon) is clearly not planning a lot of activities for the day, either.

  2. Dear Tabby, If you ever came to our house, you’d find you have a lot in common with my “big” sister, Mindy. She also likes to sleep and think about going outside. She would neither bark at you nor chase you. She’d probably let you curl up with her to stay warm. We’re all pretty much sleeping this morning — even my “little” sister, Bear. Our human isn’t quite herself right now. I don’t know what the story is, but I hope it gets better. Yours forever and ever, Dusty T. Dog

Although I am not really sleeping, I always have to be prepared. You never know if a tin is being opened and I do not want to miss anything. I think your big sister Mindy and I meet now and again in our sleeping sequences. She never chases me but just lets me have a good fur lick. That is something that humans will never understand, they have a few construction mistakes. I also have a human that likes to lay down on the bed after she does what she calls work, but I don’t mind. I usually lay with her on the bed and she gives me a tummy tickle – for feline therapy sessions of course.
