Daily Feline Prompt: Almost Feline

Tabby

I almost caught a mouse, it was faster than me
I nearly caught a bird, but it flew up a tree
I amost lost a life, but I still have 5 to spare
Four are aleady gone, but I do not care
I ‘m not quickest feline, the neighbour’s cat is faster
He chased me up the path, it was almost a disaster
I will not be  second best, and always am the first
At sleeping I am perfect, if you wake me up you’re cursed
I almost slept 20 hours, but heard the sound of a dish
I woke up in a second to get my tuna fish
Of one thing I am sure, I must always get my rest
And then I am no longer almost, but am the perfect best.

  1. Thanks for reminding my human of fish
Left in the pantry, yesterday in a dish
You’ll always be first in my canine heart
But I know if we met, I’d give you a start.
I’m big, black and barky, it is how I am
It’s best we keep writing or we’ll be in a jam.
Yours forever and ever, Dusty T. Dog

Hi Tabby, Martha here. The thing is, I ran out of dog food and had to supplement Bear’s kibble with tuna yesterday morning. Just so you know. Yr pal, Martha

    • Meow Dusty
Did you see that, your human forgot
to supply you with food, oh, what a bad lot
But where there is tuna, there is always a way
so tell me your problems, and we will have our say
I am Tabby and delicate, but am the chief of this joint
I say it loud in telepathy, and always make my point

Meow Martha, I hope you have profusely and in detail apologised to Dusty – on your knees of course. and tuna supplement is second best, Dusty deserves pure tuna. Even dogs have their canine rights.

    • Thanks for looking in and reading Tabby’s works of literature, she is pleased. Actually Tabby writes it from her point of view of the world, I just have to write it due to the lack of opposable thumbs. I am now following your blog. Perhaps I can show her that she is not the only feline in the world.

  2. I love this poem Tabby. You should write more poems. You apparently don’t win the debate with your owner. I have a cat named, Daisy, Tabby. She has the same color on her back that you do, but her stomach is white and she has orange markings in some spots too.

    • I am the owner, Mrs. Human is my slave, but sometimes she gets her own ideas which i must control. We were four in the litter and each one of us had a different colour. It seems that mum couldn’t make up her mind that memorable evening on the rooftop
