Daily Prompt: Feline Treat

“Tabby, you have that look on your face again.”

“What look? I don’t have looks, I just have feline needs that should be fulfilled.”

“Yes, but you don’t have to look at me as if I have done something wrong.”

“Neglect is always wrong Mrs. Human.”

“Is that why you always stare at me when I am eating.”

“Of course, especially if you are eating something that I also want to eat. Every day you sit at that table and eat food and I am left on the floor to beg. Begging is very humiliating Mrs. Human. I have owned this family for many years, and I still do not have a place at the table.”

“But you have you own little corner next to the table on the floor.”

“Exactly, “on the floor” which is not my position in my feline life. I should be at the top of the table with my bowl.”

“Tabby I am sure when your ancestors were worshipped as gods they also had their own place to eat and did not sit at the table.”

“But we ate first of all and the humans got the leftovers.”

“You never have leftovers Tabby, but your own special healthy food.”

“And now we are back to the hard indigestible vitamin pellets. Thank goodness there are feline treats.”

“But they are not very healthy.”

“I feel healthy Mrs. Human, so no problem and they are a good solution if you eat something anti feline like pizza or cheese.”

“Tabby you have your own special food and there is always enough.”

“That is not the point, I would like some variety in my menu, so what are we eating this evening.”

“Just some cold cuts Tabby.”

“I love cold cuts, but only ham. You can keep the salami for yourself and Mr. Human.”

“But I also like ham.”

“No problem you can have what I cannot manage.”

  1. My dogs always make me feel guilty for eating better food. The just LOOK at me. The eyes. The sadness. The gloom. You can see their little minds working, firmly believing that they are deprived and can barely survive on their meager rations. Poor puppies. Poor Tabby! Weak with hunger. Ask. They’ll tell you.

    • So true. We must be doing something wrong. My feline is becoming a victim of neglect. Those accusing eyes, the hungry look. Today is spaghettti, I wonder if I should cook an extra portion of meat. She prefers the meat to the actual spaghetti. She has such sensitive taste buds.
